1. Content (45 marks)
Thesis statement is presented (5pts):
Subject & opinion are clearly identified and are relevant to
topic (if this is not clear deduct all 5pts)
Format of essay (10 pts):
At least 5 sentences per paragraph, proper spacing, look
nice and neat, meet the length requirement for the essay,
introduction and conclusion clearly present (-2pts for every
missing factor)
Organization of essay (20 pts):
Flow of thoughts (-1pt for every improper use or inadequate
transitional phrases up to -5)
One main idea per paragraph (-1pt for every time you cannot
find the main idea of each paragraph up to -5)
Supporting materials present (-1pt for every inadequate,
confusing, or off topic supporting evidence of the
paragraphs up to -10.)
Originality and creativity (10 pts):
Correct use of word choice (-1 pt for incorrect use of word
choice up to -5)
Knowledgeable about the topic and show exceptional research
(award up to10 pts)
2. Technicality (30 marks)
Sentence structures (15 pts):
Free of run-on sentences or fragments (-1pt for every
mistake up to -5pts)
Correct usage punctuation (-1pt for every incorrect use up
to -5 pts)
Free of repetitive information (deduct up to 5pts for
sentences that should be combined, or deleted.)
Spelling (15pts):
Free of spelling mistakes, typos, or spacing errors (-1pt
for every mistake up to 15pts)
3. Grammars (25 marks)
Verb use (15pts):
Correct use of verb tense (-1pts for every mistakes up to
-15)
Other grammar (10pts):
Such as improper use of capitalization, preposition, order
of words (deduct up to 10pts)
